    The association between OWL and CIC bioGUNE is supporting the objective of CIC bioGUNE: promoting interactions between public research groups and commercial R+D laboratories.

    OWL collaborates with FIMA in /"Project NASH" studying the proteins that have been differentially translated during the development of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). At present, this collaboration includes other diseases, such as Multiple Sclerosis.

    Vall d'Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR) and the biotechnology company OWL have an agreement for OWL to provide metabolomics and lipidomics services to VHIR research groups, in order to increase their analysis capacity and the search of new biomarkers for a wide range of disorders. Metabolic profiles represent nowadays one of the main strategies in this field. OWL holds powerful platforms to detect metabolites, especially lipids, so VHIR researchers can increase their possibilities of discovering new biomarkers and advance in personalized medicine studies.

    OWL has set up a collaboration with the Clinic Hospital in Barcelona to develop new diagnosis systems. Hospital Clínic de Barcelona is one of the best medical assistance centers in Spain and the first one in scientific production. It´s divided in services and institutions by medical specialities and provides outstanding patient-based quality assistance, first level biomedical investigation and top quality teaching dedication in order to bring out excellent professionals. It has the objective of providing society with humanized, state of the art medicine.

    This hospital has remarkable technological facilities, along with an important educational area and research experience, and qualified and dedicated personnel. Adaptability to change and coordination with Social and Health Institutions are the most remarkable challenges. OWL is dynamically collaborating with the hepatologist Dr. Clemente in the identification of genomic signatures of hepatic pathologies, such as NASH, steatosis, cirrhosis or hepatitis.

    Founded in 1964, the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm) is a public scientific and technological institute which operates under the joint authority of the French Ministry of Health and French Ministry of Research.

    As the only French public research institute to focus entirely on human health, in 2008 Inserm took on the responsibility for the strategic, scientific and operational coordination of biomedical research. This key role as coordinator comes naturally to Inserm thanks to the scientific quality of its teams and its ability to conduct translational research, from the laboratory to the patient?s bed.

    The decree adopted in March 2009 will enable Inserm to perform its research missions in the face of the new scientific, health and economic challenges of the 21st century. Scientific monitoring and expertise are now part of the Institute?s official missions
